They don’t need to see through walls, they can smell termites wherever they are - under the slab, in walls, the ceiling and all those places where humans and their gadgets, including thermal imaging cameras, can’t get to.

Where Millie and Sherlock really hold their own is that they only take a matter of minutes to find the more discreet termites, such as those infiltrating through a small crack in the centre of a slab that is covered by timber flooring.

In this case, the dog would locate the termites and sit down quietly (no scratching or digging) to indicate that they’ve found their prize.
