When the Bedbugs Bite:
100% Discretion Guaranteed!

If you haven’t heard about it yet, you’ll soon be hearing plenty about bed-bugs.

But - before we discuss some of the facts and features of these nasties - a clear statement from us about how we can help ...

Firstly, we specialise in the control and eradication of these insidious and very-difficult-to-eradicate creatures. Eradication demands specialist knowledge and special equipment (we use specially-designed high-temperature steam units imported from the US), is very labour-intensive, and takes around four hours for our Team to treat each infected room. Rooms can then be aired and used the next day.

Once established, bedbugs can be very difficult to eradicate because both the "adult" form and eggs are highly durable and resistant.

Because of this it is ESSENTIAL to act swiftly once infestation is suspected - especially in commercial premises! Old infestations are exponentially more difficult to eradicate than are recent. Because of this, commercial room "downtimes" can be lengthy if let go!

Secondly, we offer a free, specialist assessment of a potentially infected premises, give you a written Cost Estimate, and then - after treatment of the effected rooms - train your key personnel in the skills of early detection.

All actions - as well as our presence on your premises - are "low profile", as we are acutely aware of the damage to your business that bedbug infestations can cause.

Here at Termite Doctors we’re used to dealing with crafty creatures so we’re ready and able to accept the "bedbug challenge"!

Recent media reports claim that bedbugs infestations have increased by 1000% here in Australia.

From our experience this may well be so. Certainly the Sunshine Coast has seen a massive increase in this once-rare phenomenon.

But Australia isn’t the only country suffering. Bed-bugs are a world-wide concern with the bed-bug population estimated to double every year!

And they’re not shy about moving into 5-Star Accommodation either!

So what’s the problem?

Well to put it bluntly, bed-bugs are blood-sucking insects that love nothing better than feasting on human flesh, and they usually do it between 1.00am and 3.00am in the morning when sleeping victims are none the wiser.

In fact, many people who are affected don’t realise they’ve been bitten until a couple of days later when angry red welts appear. The majority of those who are bitten by bed-bugs experience some kind of an allergic reaction.

A quick inspection of your bed sheets for tiny droplets of YOUR blood and dark spots of bed-bug excrement in the seams of your mattress are signs that you’re sleeping with the enemy.

Controlling the problem has a number of complications, it’s not as easy as giving the mattress a quick spray with a chemical as this causes even greater problems for people with breathing sensitivities. Nor is it likely to affect eggs, which will hatch unscathed to re-infest the bed.

Here at Termite Doctors, we have researched the problem thoroughly and secured specialist equipment that will properly remove bed-bugs and their eggs from mattresses, homes and commercial accommodation.

AUSTRALIA netballer Bianca Chatfield has vowed to bring her own sheets next time she has to stay at the Australian Institute of Sport, after she fell victim to a suspected case of bed bugs.

What You Should Do If You Find Bed Bugs!
Seal the room, minimise the number of people entering and leaving the room, don’t move anything like beds or linen etc. out of the room. Bed bugs travel on luggage, people, beds, pillows, linen, linen trolleys etc., The last thing you want is to contaminate any other rooms/areas!

Get some samples, if possible. Place the insects in clean jar.

Call a Bed Bug expert ASAP!!!!

Expect to work jointly with the pest controller to get control of the situation as soon as possible. This may involve getting linen and all blankets thoroughly hot washed, throwing away heavily contaminated items or even replacing certain items if bed bug infestation is severe. By working together with the pest controller you can expect to gain control that much sooner and lower the risk of re-infestation.

What You Should NOT Do If You Find Bed Bugs!
Don’t be tempted to blast the bed bugs with any aerosol insect killer that you may have handy. These chemicals will not be effective on Bed Bugs!

Instead, what they will do is to cause the bed bugs to move to other areas of the room or unit, making elimination even harder!

Don’t get a general pest treatment using chemicals designed for cockroaches, again these chemicals will not be effective on Bed Bugs.

Instead, what they will do is to cause the bed bugs to move to other areas of the room or unit, making elimination even harder!

We use specialist steam machine imported from America to treat mattresses and fabric furnishings.
